Rescue Me ID: 15-05-03-00334Tesla (male)

Shiba Inu Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Tesla is the world's biggest love bug, particularly with humans. He's smaller than his brothers Watt and Edison and he loves to run and play with them. He's pretty vocal if the others are being too rough with him. He loves being close to people, and he will follow a person around beginning for pets and snuggles the whole time. Even though he is the smallest, he is in some ways the bravest - he will investigate something or run after somebody/another animal with no fear whatsoever. Hes gaining weight, and he and Edison both sleep during the night and wake up after about 7 or 8 hours. We keep a pad and towel on the bed, and they only pee or ... (Read More)poop during the night on the pad (we've never had an accident!). Tesla will benefit from basic obedience and puppy socialization classes to make sure he grows into a well adjusted companion. Their foster emailed us about the boys and said 'They are all three incredibly sweet dogs. They seem to be quite bright and learn quickly. They are very friendly with children - we live next to an elementary school so they've seen lots of children already. They know no fear of larger dogs and want to make friends with all of them. They love our cat (the feeling isn't mutual but she tolerates them). They are puzzled by her jumping up on things. I have been around a lot of puppies in my life and these are three of the cutest ones. In part because they are so small, and in part because they are so sweet.' We think that he is a Shiba Inu/Terrier mix but aren't totally positive. We are positive that Tesla is totally adorable though! If you're interested in adopting him please email us at sunshincanyondr@gmail.com (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-05-03-00333Edison (male)

Shiba Inu Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Edison is such a looker! We think he is a Shiba Inu/Terrier mix. He is curious and sweet and adventurous. He is becoming very snuggly. He loves playing fetch. He loves attention and affection but is okay being by himself sometimes. Edison can entertain himself while his people are busy. He's pretty laid back and is fine with almost anything, including being carried or being petted by lots of people. Edison follows people around too begging for snuggles and pets. Edison and is extremely sweet and low-maintenance (for a puppy that is) while still playful, fun and puppy-ish! He loves laying on his back and begging for belly rubs, and has a tail ... (Read More)that wags so fast every time he sees a person or new friend. Edison can't wait to meet his forever family here in Colorado! We picture him going on long walks and playing at the dog park. He will benefit from obedience training and puppy socialization to make sure he grows up into a well adjusted companion. If you're interested in adopting Edison please email us at sunshinecanyondr@gmail.com for an application. Thank so much! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-22-00360Fuyuko (female)

Shiba Inu    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

***MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS RECEIVED!!!*** ***TO APPLY, GO TO www.savemescout.wix.com/savemescoutrescue for the PUPPY APPLICATION!!!*** ***WE DO NOT SHIP OUR DOGS. OUT OF STATE APPLICANTS MUST TRAVEL TO COLORADO WITH ALL FAMILY MEMBERS AND ANY OTHER DOGS TO MEET*** Fuyuko, which means 'winter and child' in Japanese, is a 4 month old pure bred Cream female Shiba Inu puppy whose mother was pulled from a puppy mill auction. Fuyu was lucky to be born in freedom or she would have likely been either killed as she has a heart murmur (more on that at the bottom of her description) or used to breed in the puppy mill system. Fuyuko is a ball of ... (Read More)energy! She loves to run around and play with dogs and people of all ages. She has also been fostered with cats and is fairly good at leaving them alone if she has other dogs or kids to entertain her instead. She is still quite nippy when excited so bear that in mind with children. And while she loves other dogs, she can get a bit possessive already over attention or food. We feed her in her crate and only give food chews like cattle hooves or bully sticks either in the crate or under direct supervision. Fuyuko is working on crate training and potty training. She is also working on walking on a leash but can be vocal from time to time in her crate so she may or may not be a good candidate for apartments. With her young age and positive training and consistency, we don't see any reason for her not to progress and thrive. Fuyuko was born with a fairly strong heart murmur. A heart murmur is when the heart rate is not a clear lub-dub rhythm due to a defect in the heart. We did an echocardiogram on Shika at Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital and her murmur is caused by a small hole in her heart between the ventricles. This particular condition needs no further treatment though a follow up echocardiogram at a year of age is recommended. The cardiologist said that dogs with this condition lead normal, long, healthy lives Fuyuko's adoption fee is $475 which includes her spay, microchip, two distemper/parvo boosters, deworming, and private training session. ***TO APPLY, GO TO www.savemescout.wix.com/savemescoutrescue for the PUPPY APPLICATION!!!*** (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-22-00595Goose (male)

Shiba Inu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adult Women Only
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Hi there! My name is Goose! I'm a year and half old. My hobbies include walks, smelling things, and sniffing dogs' butts. I'm very smart and quick to learn! I currently know sit, jump, hug (my favorite - I will let you know when I want a hug too), shake, and go to bed. I love playing with other dogs but I am a little unsure of adult men - I was abused in the past and take some time to warm up. Goose is a good dog with great energy. He will try to be the dominant one so he needs someone that can be firm with him. Goose is more a visual learner and likes physical cues when being told to sit, jump, etc. He knows he has to have the ... (Read More)'OK' to eat, leave the house, and enter the house. He is potty trained but he still makes the occasional mistakes; after all, he still is a puppy. I think he would really enjoy a place with a backyard! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-18-00309Chibi (female)

Shiba Inu    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Chibi (chee-bee), which means 'little one' in Japanese, is a 7 year old pure bred Black and Tan female Shiba Inu. She was pulled from a large scale backyard breeder/puppy mill situation in November. Before coming to rescue Chibi had never walked on a leash, felt grass, lived in a home, been petted, given treats, or any of the things we do with companion dogs on a daily basis. Her job was to solely produce cute puppies, over and over again. Chibi still has a ways to go but we'd like to start looking for her forever family. She really feeds off the other dogs in her foster home so a home with other dogs is a must. She is also good with ... (Read More)kitties, too. After all this time she is allowing some petting from her foster mom if her foster mom sneakily reaches in for a pet when Chibi is amongst the other dogs. Due to her fear she'd do best in a home without children. Chibi is crate trained and potty trained though she's still not sure about walking on a leash and may freeze or spin in circles. Because of this and also because she does vocalize from time to time, we don't feel an apartment, townhome, condo or anything without a fenced in yard would be appropriate since she'd have to do her business on a leash (and in an apartment setting her voice might bother neighbors). She would do best in a yard with wood fencing as she can dig under chain link if she feels trapped. Chibi would love to have a wonderful patient person offer her a chance to learn to be loved and be a companion rather than a puppy factory. Chibi's adoption fee is $75 which includes her spay, dental, microchip, heart worm test, deworming, distemper and rabies vaccinations. While she doesn't come with a training session, our director who is a certified trainer is happy to offer one for a reduced rate. To apply for Chibi, please go to www.savemescout.wix.com/savemescoutrescue for the application and send to savemescout@yahoo.com. We do not ship our dogs! Any out of state applicants must travel to Colorado for a visit with the dogs before a decision is finalized! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-17-00224Buddy the Elf (male)

Shiba Inu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Buddy the Elf! He is a 1 year old Shiba Inu mix that we pulled from Denver Animal Shelter just prior to Christmas. He was very scared in the shelter and it was difficult for the staff to handle him. It takes him time to warm up to new people, but he is food motivated which helps. Buddy is stiff with new dogs at first but after a few days if they leave him alone, he begins to accept them. He does like to hog his toys to himself so another passive dog would be best. He is also hit or miss with cats. Buddy is working on crate training. He is fed in his crate to associate it with something positive. He is also working on potty training ... (Read More)and learning to ask outside. He does however walk decently on a leash without pulling and also knows sit and to shake with each paw so he's very smart. Once Buddy warms up to you he follows you every where and is just the happiest, sweetest cuddle bug. He leans into you for pets and can't get enough of you. He is better with women than men and probably would do best in a home without children. Buddy's adoption fee of $175 includes his neuter, deworming, distemper, bordatella and rabies vaccinations, microchip and an in home private training session. Rescue Me ID: 14-11-09-00020Maiko (female)

Shiba Inu    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

***TO ADOPT GO TO WWW.SAVEMESCOUT.WIX.COM/SAVEMESCOUTRESCUE FOR THE PUPPY ADOPTION APPLICATION!*** ***WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS! YOU MUST LIVE IN COLORADO OR TRAVEL HERE TO MEET THE DOG!*** Maiko (my-kO), which means 'dancing child' in Japanese, is a 9 month old pure bred Red/Sesame female Shiba Inu. Maiko came from an unlicensed breeder that was shutting down and was planning on selling her as a breeding dog. Maiko likely would have then lived her life in a cage at a puppy mill with the sole purpose of producing puppies for pet stores and internet sales. Before coming to rescue Maiko had never walked on a leash before, never met ... (Read More)children, or other dogs besides Shiba Inus. She didn't know what a dog bed was or what toys were for. Maiko is working on crate training, potty training and walking on a leash. She is quiet in her crate and is crated when no one is home and at bedtime. She is fed in her crate to associate it with positive things. She can climb baby gates so no chain link fencing for risk of escape, 6 foot privacy only if she's adopted into a home with a yard. She is learning to socialize with men, women, dogs and cats. She is doing fairly well but men frighten her more than women. Maiko is nervous around children as well so a quiet home with only one or two members would be best. Once she comes out of her shell she is playful and sweet. Maiko is generally shy at first in general and not getting much socialization as a very young puppy, new things that we take for granted scare her. Running the vaccuum cleaner across the room in her foster home literally made her poop and pee herself, twice. She is a sensitive soul and needs someone that can work with her. Ideally she would have a home with another dog that is well socialized so that they can show her the ropes. She does best when around other dogs however she is food aggressive towards other dogs. This can certainly be worked on with her young age and without using forceful and aggressive methods. Maiko's adoption fee is $375.00 which includes her spay, microchip, deworming, distemper/parvo combo vaccines and a private in-home training session. (Less)
