Rescue Me ID: 14-04-14-00169Hideki (male)

Shiba Inu    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

*** Please go to for the adoption process and Puppy Application and email it to***We do NOT have a facility that can be visited--all dogs are in private foster homes!*** Hideki (hee-day-kee), which means 'splendid opportunity', is a 4 1/2 month old pure bred Sesame male Shiba Inu. He was up for bid at a puppy mill auction, a place where dogs and puppies are sold from puppy mill breeder to puppy mill breeder. Our rescue attended the mill with money that was raised by our supporters and fans in order to purchase Hideki and get him out of the mill system where he likely would ... (Read More)have lived his life in a small feces covered cage, only interacting with people when they moved him from one female's cage to another in order to breed him and make puppies to sell to pet stores. Before coming to rescue, Hideki had never felt grass, been in a house, played with other dogs, or known what it felt like to be petted. He is a bit shy in new situations but comes around quickly. Hideki is very shy at first with adults but with patience and treats he warms up fairly quickly. Once you find his favorite spots to be petted he leans right in. He is too shy for children. Hide is ok with dogs on neutral territory in SMALL doses but he already has some resource guarding issues and may do best as the only dog in the home. He has not been assessed yet with cats. Hide is doing great with crate training and potty training and learning to walk on a leash as he had never worn anything like a collar or harness before so leash walking is scarey for most puppy mill dogs. Due to this he may or may not do well in an apartment where he has to walk on leash for all potty breaks. Hideki's adoption fee is $475, which includes his neuter, microchip, deworming, distemper and rabies vaccinations and two professional in home private training sessions to be done with the adopter in their home following the adoption.
