Rescue Me ID: 15-03-22-00595Goose (male)

Shiba Inu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adult Women Only
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Hi there! My name is Goose! I'm a year and half old. My hobbies include walks, smelling things, and sniffing dogs' butts. I'm very smart and quick to learn! I currently know sit, jump, hug (my favorite - I will let you know when I want a hug too), shake, and go to bed. I love playing with other dogs but I am a little unsure of adult men - I was abused in the past and take some time to warm up. Goose is a good dog with great energy. He will try to be the dominant one so he needs someone that can be firm with him. Goose is more a visual learner and likes physical cues when being told to sit, jump, etc. He knows he has to have the ... (Read More)'OK' to eat, leave the house, and enter the house. He is potty trained but he still makes the occasional mistakes; after all, he still is a puppy. I think he would really enjoy a place with a backyard! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-18-00309Chibi (female)

Shiba Inu    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Chibi (chee-bee), which means 'little one' in Japanese, is a 7 year old pure bred Black and Tan female Shiba Inu. She was pulled from a large scale backyard breeder/puppy mill situation in November. Before coming to rescue Chibi had never walked on a leash, felt grass, lived in a home, been petted, given treats, or any of the things we do with companion dogs on a daily basis. Her job was to solely produce cute puppies, over and over again. Chibi still has a ways to go but we'd like to start looking for her forever family. She really feeds off the other dogs in her foster home so a home with other dogs is a must. She is also good with ... (Read More)kitties, too. After all this time she is allowing some petting from her foster mom if her foster mom sneakily reaches in for a pet when Chibi is amongst the other dogs. Due to her fear she'd do best in a home without children. Chibi is crate trained and potty trained though she's still not sure about walking on a leash and may freeze or spin in circles. Because of this and also because she does vocalize from time to time, we don't feel an apartment, townhome, condo or anything without a fenced in yard would be appropriate since she'd have to do her business on a leash (and in an apartment setting her voice might bother neighbors). She would do best in a yard with wood fencing as she can dig under chain link if she feels trapped. Chibi would love to have a wonderful patient person offer her a chance to learn to be loved and be a companion rather than a puppy factory. Chibi's adoption fee is $75 which includes her spay, dental, microchip, heart worm test, deworming, distemper and rabies vaccinations. While she doesn't come with a training session, our director who is a certified trainer is happy to offer one for a reduced rate. To apply for Chibi, please go to www.savemescout.wix.com/savemescoutrescue for the application and send to savemescout@yahoo.com. We do not ship our dogs! Any out of state applicants must travel to Colorado for a visit with the dogs before a decision is finalized! (Less)

Animal ID: 704Lily Pad (female)

Shiba Inu Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lily Pad Chihuahua/Shiba Inu Mix Female 2 years old 14 lbs. Um, excuse-me-very-much do I know you? You look familiar - did we meet at the park last week? Maybe it was at the mall...even though I'm SO not ready for swimsuit season; I am in LOVE with these early summer prints! And omigosh, have you SEEN the snow drifts in the park!? This weather doesn't scare me - I need to take my new boots for a spin around downtown! Are you totally booked up this weekend? I could pencil in like, a coffee date or Sunday brunch - would either of those work? Not before noon, though - Sunday is my beauty rest day. Oh shoot, I totally missed the most important ... (Read More)part- I'm Lily! I know we've met. I'll remember where, oh, it's going to drive me NUTS until I can remember! Your hair is amazing; I definitely remember your hair. So, I've only been in Denver for like a hot minute, but I LOVE it here. There is so much to do and see, and for a healthy, spunky young lady like me, the rural lifestyle just was not cutting it. I need to be where people have energy, life, vitality! I'm not like, some pushover country gal just because I came from the sticks - quite the opposite - there's a lot of spunk in this small package. With so much time to dream about just how my life would be in the big city, I'm basically like, Taylor Swift moving to New York; I've kept my small-town charm, but I'm ready to take on the WORLD! Do NOT underestimate a spitfire blond on a mission! So far, I'm totally digging my room - my foster family calls it my 'kennel' and I'm totally going to spruce it up, maybe some hot pink to really pop against the silver. Of course, I'd rather be right by their side, I'm just saying it's not out of the question to spend a little time alone. If you've got other four-legged family, I'm all about hanging with them - as long as they know they can't push me around - I will push RIGHT BACK, baby! Dogs big and small are like, totally my favorite thing; if you've got cats, I just hope they aren't shy - my favorite thing to do with cats is chase - it totally counts as cardio. I like to stay active and keep my mind busy, so a family with lots going on that will take me places - that's what this young lady is truly dreaming of. So what do ya say, not-so-stranger? You ready for a little added spunkiness in your life? Let's totes hit up the snowshoeing trail so I can show off my new parka, or maybe take a spin around downtown when lots of people are out - I'll wear my sparkly collar. I'd even be up for a totally chill Netflix snooze session, as long as I get the spot next to you on the couch! You in!? Rescue Me ID: 15-02-23-00008Aki (female)

Shiba Inu    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

***WE DO NOT SHIP OUR DOGS!*** ***ANYONE INTERESTED GO TO WWW.SAVEMESCOUT.WIX.COM/SAVEMESCOUTRESCUE FOR THE ADOPTION APPLICATION!*** Aki (ah-kee), which means 'autumn' in Japanese, is a 1 1/2 year old pure bred Red female Shiba Inu that came to us from a puppy mill auction held in Wheaton MO that our rescue attended in order to pull dogs with funds raised in order to prevent them from being sold to other puppy mill breeders. These auctions allow large commercial scale breeders that sell their puppies online or via the internet to sell off their stock when they have too many of a breed, don't wish to breed that particular breed anymore or ... (Read More)are getting out of the business. Sadly these breeders view the dogs as livestock, only caring about their breeding capabilities. Aki was auctioned off with the selling point that she was a young female, able to produce puppies for several years ahead and was also possibly pregnant. Luckily our rescue was able to win the highest bid for her and brought her and her single unborn puppy into a life of freedom. Before coming to rescue aki had never lived in a house, walked on a leash, been petted, played with toys, walked on grass or played with other dogs. Home life was scarey for her and while she has a ways to go in her forever home, she has come a long way. Aki is pretty good with crate training and potty training. She is doing very well with walking on a leash and also does well with chain link fencing. She LOVES other dogs and MUST have another dog in the home to play with and show her the ropes, preferably a male dog. She is good with cats but children are probably too scarey for her. Aki's adoption fee is $325 and includes her spay, microchip, distemper/rabies vaccinations, and a private in home training session. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-17-00224Buddy the Elf (male)

Shiba Inu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Buddy the Elf! He is a 1 year old Shiba Inu mix that we pulled from Denver Animal Shelter just prior to Christmas. He was very scared in the shelter and it was difficult for the staff to handle him. It takes him time to warm up to new people, but he is food motivated which helps. Buddy is stiff with new dogs at first but after a few days if they leave him alone, he begins to accept them. He does like to hog his toys to himself so another passive dog would be best. He is also hit or miss with cats. Buddy is working on crate training. He is fed in his crate to associate it with something positive. He is also working on potty training ... (Read More)and learning to ask outside. He does however walk decently on a leash without pulling and also knows sit and to shake with each paw so he's very smart. Once Buddy warms up to you he follows you every where and is just the happiest, sweetest cuddle bug. He leans into you for pets and can't get enough of you. He is better with women than men and probably would do best in a home without children. Buddy's adoption fee of $225 includes his neuter, deworming, distemper, bordatella and rabies vaccinations, microchip and an in home private training session. Rescue Me ID: 15-01-14-00244Jinguru (male)

Shiba Inu    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

***APPLICATIONS RECEIVED!*** ***TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.savemescout.wix.com/savemescoutrescue for the Adoption Application!*** ***WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS! YOU MUST LIVE IN COLORADO OR TRAVEL HERE TO MEET THE DOG!*** Jinguru, which means 'jingle' in Japanese, is a 2 year old pure bred Sesame male Shiba Inu that was surrendered to us after he kept bolting the front door at his home. The household had lots of little kids going in and out and no one was paying attention to where Jingu was in the hustle and bustle. Tired of his bad habits, the family listed him on a garage sale site for free and a volunteer with the rescue saw it and ... (Read More)contacted them. Jingu is so super sweet with people and it doesn't seem like he knows a single stranger on the planet. He is good with dogs but has not yet been tested with cats. He was raised with 5 children and does great with kids. Due to past escape tendencies it may be best if he has 6 foot fencing. Jingu is potty trained and is working on crate training. He has some separation anxiety when crated but is still too young to just leave out when no one is home or sleeping as he may get into something. We feed him in his crate to associate positive things with it and he is starting to go in on his own for his foster mom. His forever family would need to keep up with these same practices. Due to his current vocalizations he may not be a good candidate for an apartment. Jingu's adoption fee is $325 which includes his neuter, microchip, deworming, distemper and rabies vaccinations and mandatory in home private training session. (Less)

Shiba Inu Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lady is beautiful inside and out! She is so full of life and a highly energetic girl who needs training and loving direction. But she also can be a cuddle bug -- very sweet and affectionate. Lady has a fantastic spirit and personality, she just needs a loving family to call her own. When it comes to making four-legged friends she prefers males who admire her good looks and females who have no desire to compete. With this established she will happily join any group of dogs. Lady loves little children a bit too much !!! And would do best in a family with older children who can handle her expressive way of sharing her love. ... Shiba Inu    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

***TO ADOPT GO TO WWW.SAVEMESCOUT.WIX.COM/SAVEMESCOUTRESCUE FOR THE PUPPY ADOPTION APPLICATION!*** ***WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS! YOU MUST LIVE IN COLORADO OR TRAVEL HERE TO MEET THE DOG!*** Maiko (my-kO), which means 'dancing child' in Japanese, is an 8 month old pure bred Red/Sesame female Shiba Inu. Maiko came from an unlicensed breeder that was shutting down and was planning on selling her as a breeding dog. Maiko likely would have then lived her life in a cage at a puppy mill with the sole purpose of producing puppies for pet stores and internet sales. Before coming to rescue Maiko had never walked on a leash before, never met ... (Read More)children, or other dogs besides Shiba Inus. She didn't know what a dog bed was or what toys were for. Maiko is working on crate training, potty training and walking on a leash. She is quiet in her crate so she may be great for apartment living. She is crated when no one is home and at bedtime. She is fed in her crate to associate it with positive things. She can climb baby gates so no chain link fencing for risk of escape, 6 foot privacy only if she's adopted into a home with a yard. She is learning to socialize with men, women, dogs and cats. She is doing fairly well but men frighten her more than women. Maiko is nervous around children as well so a quiet home with only one or two members would be best. Once she comes out of her shell she is very active and likes to go go go! Maiko is generally shy at first in general and not getting much socialization as a very young puppy, new things that we take for granted scare her. Running the vaccuum cleaner across the room in her foster home literally made her poop and pee herself, twice. She is a sensitive soul and needs someone that can work with her. Ideally she would have a home with another dog that is well socialized so that they can show her the ropes. She does best when around other dogs however she is food aggressive towards other dogs. This can certainly be worked on with her young age and without using forceful and aggressive methods. Maiko's adoption fee is $425.00 which includes her spay, microchip, deworming, distemper/parvo combo vaccines and a private in-home training session. (Less)
