I am a very calm and quiet gal who loves a nice walk or run... I enjoy hanging out in the backyard and chasing squirrels. Sometimes I can be a little shy when meeting new people and dogs. I do well with other calm dogs. I have not met any cats%A0yet. I would do well in a home that is willing to work with me and train. I would do best in a home without young children. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-18-00309Chibi (female)

Shiba Inu    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Chibi (chee-bee), which means 'little one' in Japanese, is a 7 year old pure bred Black and Tan female Shiba Inu. She was pulled from a large scale backyard breeder/puppy mill situation in November. Before coming to rescue Chibi had never walked on a leash, felt grass, lived in a home, been petted, given treats, or any of the things we do with companion dogs on a daily basis. Her job was to solely produce cute puppies, over and over again. Chibi still has a ways to go but we'd like to start looking for her forever family. She really feeds off the other dogs in her foster home so a home with other dogs is a must. She is also good with ... (Read More)kitties, too. After all this time she is allowing some petting from her foster mom and dad. Due to her fear she'd do best in a home without children. Chibi is crate trained and potty trained though she's still not sure about walking on a leash and may freeze or spin in circles. Because of this and also because she does vocalize from time to time, we don't feel an apartment, townhome, condo or anything without a fenced in yard would be appropriate since she'd have to do her business on a leash (and in an apartment setting her voice might bother neighbors). She would do best in a yard with wood fencing as she can dig under chain link if she feels trapped. Chibi would love to have a wonderful patient person offer her a chance to learn to be loved and be a companion rather than a puppy factory. Chibi's adoption fee is $50 which includes her spay, dental, microchip, heart worm test, deworming, distemper and rabies vaccinations. While she doesn't come with a training session, our director who is a certified trainer is happy to offer one for a reduced rate. To apply for Chibi, please go to for the application and send to We do not ship our dogs! Any out of state applicants must travel to Colorado for a visit with the dogs before a decision is finalized! Rescue Me ID: 15-02-17-00224Buddy the Elf (male)

Shiba Inu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Buddy the Elf! He is a 1 year old Shiba Inu mix that we pulled from Denver Animal Shelter just prior to Christmas. He was very scared in the shelter and it was difficult for the staff to handle him. It takes him time to warm up to new people, but he is food motivated which helps. Buddy is stiff with new dogs at first but after a few days if they leave him alone, he begins to accept them. He does like to hog his toys to himself so another passive dog would be best. He is also hit or miss with cats. Buddy is working on crate training. He is fed in his crate to associate it with something positive. He is also working on potty training ... (Read More)and learning to ask outside. He does however walk decently on a leash without pulling and also knows sit and to shake with each paw so he's very smart. Once Buddy warms up to you he follows you every where and is just the happiest, sweetest cuddle bug. He leans into you for pets and can't get enough of you. He is better with women than men and probably would do best in a home without children. Buddy's adoption fee of $175 includes his neuter, deworming, distemper, bordatella and rabies vaccinations, microchip and an in home private training session.
