Rescue Me ID: 14-10-30-00001Gretel (female)

Shiba Inu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello! My name is Gretel and I'm the only girl left in my litter available for adoption and I'm the most laid-back out of all of these guys. Don't get me wrong, I love a good adventure, but I'm not going to waste my energy on silly boy stuff. I am one of 6 pups in my litter that were born into rescue because our pregnant momma was rescued in the Corridor of Cruelty. Thankfully she was rescued so we never had to live a day on the streets. We've been living in a boarding facility until we were able to have all of our puppy shots and were able to be spayed/neutered. We are guessed to be Labrador/Shiba Inu mixes and we were born in April, 2014. ... (Read More)We look a great deal like our mom, which is where we get our Shiba Inu looks, but have some lab qualities too, so we are guessing that was our Dad's breed. Our mom is only 34 pounds, so we are estimated to possibly be between 35-45 pounds once fully grown. We are all very sweet and cuddly and we hope that you like that because we'd love to start snuggling as soon as possible. We are a bit shy at first because we haven't been around too many people other than our rescue friends and the staff at the boarding facility, so you'll have to be a little patient as we warm up. We are all very silly, playful and adore lots of attention, but our innocence and cautious nature is super cute. Our favorite things to do are run through the yard, roll around with each other, and play with all of the toys we've been given. We are very loving and happy puppies and we really enjoy all of our new visitors, both dogs and people. We are still very young and haven't spent any time in a real house, so we need more work and time on our potty training and leash walking, but we are smart, so we will be perfect soon enough. With that said, we need a family that has patience, has the time to teach us, and can remember to keep their important things put away until we learn the rules. My ideal new family should love to play and teach me everything a puppy needs to know, should be active enough to take me places like the park and on your adventures, and affectionate so I grow up knowing how much I am loved. If you are interested in fostering or adopting me, please go to www.corridorrescue.org, click on More Information and then either the Foster or Adopt options. My adoption fee is $150, which includes my neuter, microchip, all of my puppy shots and a clean bill of health. (Less)

Shiba Inu Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

If you follow our Facebook page, this little guy will instantly be familiar to you. This is our adorable Rusty. He was born in 2012 or 2013 approximately, currently weighs 37 pounds, and appears to be a Shiba Inu/Red Heeler mix. This guy was not a stray dog, but did live in a yard out in the Corridor. He was sadly the victim of a dog attack through the chain link fence that was intended to keep him safe. His face was severely injured in the attack and the infection alone could have taken his life. His owner's did not have the resources to handle his needs after this emergency, so Corridor Rescue asked his owners if they could take him in to ... (Read More)save him. Rusty was very fortunate to have been taken to the best emergency hospital in Houston and they saved our boy. They reconstructed his badly mauled face and it is now completely healed and has left him with just some scarring and a sweet crooked smile. Rusty's favorite thing to do now in his foster home is to hang out with his people and play with his new toys. He adores chasing his tennis balls in the house and in the yard. The next step is to practice retrieving them too so he can be a master at fetch. The cutest habit that Rusty has is hoarding all of his toys in his bed so he can play with all of them at the same time. He also enjoys showing affection and snuggling with his friends. We are certain that once he is 100% comfortable in his new home, he will be a lap dog. It seems that is the direction he is going and he would be a wonderful companion during all of your favorite shows or while you work. So far, we've noticed that he is a little uncomfortable with loud noises, sudden movements and many new situations, but considering he hasn't been exposed to much in his life yet, this is normal behavior. After he spends a bit more time with his foster family, he will know that he is safe and these fears will subside. Walking on a leash is a very new experience and so are the cars zipping by him out there. He gets very nervous and will pull on the leash during walks, but this too will get easier on him with practice. Car rides are actually an enjoyable activity for Rusty. He jumps into the car on his own and sits nicely on the floorboard. Rusty gets along well with dogs and it seems that he favors the ones that are closer to his size. Large or overly dominant dogs seem to frighten him still at this point. He does enjoy playing with the smaller dog in his foster family. We feel he would adjust best into a family that has at least one other dog for him to follow and play with. When offered treats, Rusty takes them gently out of hands and doesn't have any food aggression with his bowls, food, treats or toys. He's more of a submissive type of dog and very sweet, affectionate and adorable. This delightful little guy is available for adoption and we are looking for the perfect family for him. He has gotten a second chance at life and we have promised him that it will be fantastic. If you are ready for a good snuggle with a gentle pup, Rusty could be your new, loyal companion. To adopt Rusty, please submit an adoption application online at www.corridorrescue.org under the More Information tab. Rusty's adoption fee is $150. Shiba Inu Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Andy has had a really rough start to his life. His previous owners left him outside without shelter and not much food and water. When we received him into rescue he had burns and infection on the majority of his body, was extremely underweight, and tested positive for heartworm because he was never given monthly heartworm prevention. This pup holds no grudges and is extremely sweet. He is now a very healthy boy, his skin has been treated with healthy hair growing back now, his heartworm has been treated, and he has put some much needed weight back on. Andy is estimated to be just over 2 years old and is currently approximately 45 lbs. ... He is a little shy at first, but warms up once he gets to know you. Andy is housetrained, good on a leash, and is friendly with other pups. Photos will be posted soon!! Shiba Inu Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Little Junebug is a mix of breeds; possibly Shiba Inu/Lab/Corgi. She was likely born in 2012 or 2013 and currently weighs 33 pounds. She has a moderate energy level and plays well with dogs, cats, and kids! This adorably cute and fluffy girl was picked up off the streets of Houston while pregnant. She gave birth and remained with her pups until they were weaned. She was spayed, and then shortly after moved to a facility for some basic training. Junebug has had a few medical issues but nothing that cannot be overcome. She is heartworm positive, but will be finished with treatment soon. She has a problem with a ligament in her rear leg, ... (Read More)but this is healing. Finally, she has a problem with her esophagus, whereas when she eats, the food does not make its way all the way down to her stomach. As also happens with humans, this can lead to aspiration pneumonia, which Junebug had a bout of and has recovered from. From now on though, Junebug will use a 'doggy highchair' to maintain her in an upright position while eating, so that the food will make its way down to her stomach in the usual manner. Can you donate your time and home to taking care of little Junebug? To foster Junebug, please submit a foster application at www.corridorrescue.org under the More Information tab. To adopt Junebug, please submit an adoption application at www.corridorrescue.org under the More Information tab. Foster homes are provided with everything needed for the animal free of charge.     Hi, my name is Cheyenne. Not long ago, I was living in an empty lot that all of a sudden had a lot of construction happening. I lived there with 2 other young dogs that I took care of and looked after...I'm just motherly like that. Luckily for us, we all got taken in by Red Collar Rescue, who promised to help us find a real home. That's when they discovered I was carrying a whole new litter. Unfortunately, I had a tough time with the delivery. Some of my pups came too early, and some waited a little longer, but they still just didn't make it. If I hadn't been under the watchful eye of my new caregivers, I probably wouldn't have made it ... (Read More)myself. The doctors said I was a perfect patient. I consider myself a lucky girl. Now I'm ready to find that real home I've been wishing for. I'm only about 2 years old, and normally will be around 40 pounds. I'm just a little thing, maybe some Corgi in my family. I'm really calm, and happiest when I can be doting on someone. I would be so happy in a home that is full of love, where I can share some cuddles and hugs. I've got some great ears and a thick fluffy scruff that were just made for some good head-scratches. You might find it pretty irresistible. If you think you might have a space in your heart and home for a sweet girl like me, please contact info@redcollar.org. I could use a foster home in the meantime, because I'm staying in boarding for now. Age: 2 yrs Weight: 40 lbs Dogs? ok Cats? unknown Kids? unknown Foster Needed? Yes (Less)
