Rescue Me ID: 16-12-01-00147Hachi (male)

Shiba Inu    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I am certain I come from royalty and my ancestors were handsome like me. I am a prince with plenty of self esteem. I enjoy playing a game of chase and when it is time to dine, I sit patiently or, if encouraged, will jump four feet high in excitement. I tolerate other animals yet prefer not sharing space with other pets and do best with youth and adults that recognize I am from royalty. I am well trained and love to show off and can occasionally be grumpy when tired. My best time of the day is taking a walk at sunset and discovering the outdoors with companions that compliment my manners while on a lead. Fill out an application for Hachi ... (Read More)today at! Shiba Inu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This sweet, silly 1 %BD%BD year-old corgi/shiba inu mix will make a loyal lap-warmer for someone out there. With her large corgi feet and ears on her small, fox-like frame, she's one of the cutest dogs we've seen. Her coat has lovely shades of red and she sheds very little compared to full-blooded corgis. Eevee loves playing with stuffed toys, chewing on them and pouncing and batting them around like a cat! Her shiba inu side comes out in her strong prey drive- she loves to hunt for rats and chase squirrels- so she must be in a secure yard or on a leash at all times. She shows her corgi side when she rolls over for belly rubs or wants ... (Read More)to cuddle with you on the couch. She is good on a leash and she likes to play fetch. She's great with babies and with young kids. She's slow to warm up to new people, but once she does, she remembers them and goes in for pets. She has a tendency to bark and growl when strangers come to the door or walk up to me when she's on a leash. She sometimes barks at other dogs when she's on a leash, as well. She's generally ok with other dogs, but she likes to be in charge. She would probably be best as an only dog or with a very calm, submissive male dog. (She lives with a neurotic sheltie right now and there's a lot of bickering.) We've seen her around 3 cats and she's been ok so far, but we can't confirm how she'd do in a house with one. She came in as a stray, but she's a smart girl and her manners are quickly improving. She comes when called (when not hunting for mice) and is getting better with her sit-stay. She is mostly housebroken, but still has accidents from time to time. Keeping her on a schedule helps a lot. She is used to a crate, but doesn't love it. She goes in it without much trouble and complains for a while, but calms down quickly if the house is quiet. If you're home, she'll bark and cry to be let out. In general, she's not terribly barky, but she does have a loud voice and isn't afraid to use it. She respects an owner who provides boundaries because she's a very smart, somewhat strong-willed little dog. If you use intimidation as a training method, though, this isn't the dog for you. She came to us very fearful and, although terribly shy at first, she has blossomed into a wonderful, loving little dog. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-21-00235Sadie (female)

Shiba Inu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Blind

Sadie is a beautiful and sweet approximate 15 mos old, blind since birth, Shiba Inu. She was rescued from a kill shelter after no one showed interest. She has adapted very well to her foster home and family. She loves to play in the fenced back yard with the other dogs and one would not realize she is blind on first glance. Her favorite thing is to 'attack' the water spraying out of the water hose as I water. It's quite funny to watch! Sadie crates very well at night without any objections or whining. She really is a precious girl that needs a loving family to spend her days with. Her hearing and smell are highly acute and more than ... (Read More)compensate for the lack of sight. Being blind since birth, Sadie doesn't know what she's missing and is a very happy, go lucky girl. She is otherwise a very healthy beautiful dog. (Less)
